Contract on the Feasibility Study for the Baltic FAB signed
Mr Krzysztof Banaszek, Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) President, signed the Contract on July 19, 2010 with Mr Michael Shorthose, Managing Director of Helios Technology Limited, on the performance of the Feasibility Study for the establishment of the Baltic Functional Airspace Block (Baltic FAB) (Project No 2008-EU-40006-S).
The Study will include an operational and economic justification for the purpose of the Baltic FAB establishment and development process in accordance with the Single European Sky (SES) requirements. It will be performed by the Economic Entity, Helios Technology Limited in co-operation with Ernst &Young Corporate Finance Ltd., selected under the public procurement procedure.
The total cost of the Study is 1 250 000,00 EUR, however, the half of the costs will be financed from the TEN-T (Trans-European Network-Transport) funds in the field of Air Traffic Management/Functional Airspace Blocks.
Total controlled airspace of the prospective Baltic FAB is 409 000 km2, incl.:
Warsaw Flight Information Region (FIR) 334 000 km2
Vilnius Flight Information Region (FIR) 75 338 km2
