SAMPLE system presented at WAC 2022 in Madrid

Developed by the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, Creotech Instruments S.A. and AP-TECH Sp. z o.o., Automated Detection And Monitoring Of Air Obstacles SAMPLE system (System Automatycznego Monitorowana Przeszkód Lotniczych i Ewidencji – SAMPLE) was presented at the prestigious World ATM Congress 2022 in Madrid.

As part of the AP-TECH exhibition stand, the partners presented the first measurable effects of the joint project co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR). The system aims to use satellite technologies for automatic measurement, processing, visualization and export of airborne obstacle data. SAMPLE project enters the commercialization phase, thus becoming another product offered for business by PANSA, AP-TECH and Creotech Instruments, which acts as a consortium leader.

SAMPLE will provide entities responsible for air traffic safety with a modern tool, which will help to take care of both the airspace users and the public comfort. The new system will be used to determine and monitor obstacles in specific areas of airports and airstrips, and will enable entities responsible for air traffic safety to manage the effectiveness of manned and unmanned operations. For airspace users it also means, among others, optimization of the flight route, and thus real time and fuel savings.

The system, innovative on a global scale, is powered by high-resolution satellite data (Earth Observation) and products obtained using photogrammetric methods, as well as all information from current databases on airspace obstacles. It can be used for both manned aviation and helicopter operations (e.g. HEMS), as well as for unmanned aircraft (drone) flights.
