Sky full of information – we celebrate Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) Day

On May 15, we celebrate Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) Day! This is a great opportunity to remind people how important in aviation is this less visible, but one of the key parts of the Polish Air Navigation Agency’s activities.

18 years of care, reliability of information

Over 18 years, the Aeronautical Information Service has published aeronautical data and information, approximately 11 changes to AIP Poland per year. All to constantly ensure the regularity, safety, and efficiency of air operations. AIS has in its 18 years of achievements, among others:

  • Sale of approximately 130,000 large-format and folded maps (Aviation Map of Poland ICAO 1: 500,000, Map of Space), which are used by the GA community during air operations and training,
  • Development of approximately 125,000 maps for AIP IFR, AIP VFR, AIP MIL and maps for PAŻP services,
  • Review of approximately 2,160 airport and landing instructions over 18 years.

AIS in Poland is responsible for:

  • collecting and publishing information of fundamental importance for the safety, regularity, and efficiency of air navigation,
  • creating and distributing aeronautical information products, which include, among others, Aeronautical Information Publication – Poland (AIP Poland), AIP Poland Supplements, Aeronautical Information Bulletins (AIC),
  • issuing NOTAMs concerning Polish airspace (FIR Warsaw). NOTAM messages in FIR Warsaw are published by the International NOTAM Office in series – A, P, B, C, M, D, N, E, U, H, L, F, G, J and S (SNOWTAM), via the European AIS Database (EAD),
  • creating and distributing aeronautical charts,
  • creating and distributing digital data sets,
  • supplying ATM systems with aeronautical data,
  • providing aeronautical information.

We thank all those who create AIS in the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency – for their knowledge, professionalism, and contribution to the safety of flights in Polish airspace. Your work is a guarantee of safety in the sky.
