ASH CLOUD IMPACTS GLOBAL TRAFFIC
canso_square.gif

Global air traffic during April dropped by 2.3% as a result of the Ash cloud crisis. North European ANSPs were generally hit worst, with airspace closures leading to significant reductions in air traffic. The crisis will add additional pressure on many ANSPs, but particularly ISAVIA, which has controlled fewer movements for several months. Other regions appear to have been less affected by the ash crisis, with Airservices Australia, ATNS South Africa, the FAA, and State ATM Corporation of Russia, among others, reporting growth.
