PANSA and Oro Navigacija cooperates in Baltic FAB establishment and development process
The meeting between PANSA President, Mr Krzysztof Banaszek, and Oro Navigacija Director General, Mr Algimantas Ra??ius will was held on November 13, 2010. The meeting is another step in the implementation of Single European Sky (SES) requirements in the context of the Baltic FAB establishment and the realization of the common program signed on July 30, 2010.
PANSA representatives also attended Days of Polish Culture in Vilnus held on November 13-14, 2010. Days of Polish Culture in Vilnus are one of the greatest and most complex events where the achievements of Polish artists are presented. The organizers also prepared interesting artistic program.
Both air navigation system providers have resources which are important in the field of regional cooperation in the context of the Baltic FAB establishment. PANSA can use Oro Navigacija experience in the area of reducing flight delays and decreasing shortage of operational services.
Total controlled airspace of the prospective Baltic FAB is 409 000 sq km, incl.:
- Warsaw Flight Information Region (FIR) 334 000 sq km
- Vilnius Flight Information Region (FIR) 75 338 sq km
The main objective underlying the establishment of the FAB in Europe involves achieving the maximum capacity and efficiency of the air traffic management network, shortening of flight routes, which translates directly into achieving the reduction in aviation fuel consumption and the abatement of aviation CO2 emissions without detriment to the high level safety performance, as well as the improvement of cost-efficiency ratio of air navigation services providers. The EU Member States are obliged to complete the establishment of FABs no later than 4 December 2010.
